On May 4, 2022, within the framework of the EU co-financed Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project – “Advancing European Values and Standards in Georgian Schools”, the third public discussion was held at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, Telavi.
The event was opened by the project manager, Tatia Dolidze, who offered the attendees an overview of the activities carried out during the year and a half of the project. Prof. Giorgi Gobronidze, project researcher and co-author of the policy paper, delivered a presentation on the findings of the field research together with the relevant recommendations, and chaired the discussions.
Lecturers and students of the Teacher Training Educational Program of Telavi State University. i.e. current and future school teachers, took part in the discussions. It must be noted that the meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences of Telavi State University, Prof. Dr. Davit Makhashvili.
Like in case of previous public discussions, the main discussion topic was that of the challenges of teaching and learning European Values in Georgian public schools. The role of secondary educational establishments in the process of value formation was addressed in depth.
Upon the request from the Faculty, several copies of the Methodological Manual “Teaching European Values in Schools of Georgia” published within the project, were donated to the Library of Telavi State University.
