Levan Makhashvili is a Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament. He holds PhD European Studies from Institute for European Studies of Tbilisi State University and MA European Studies from Maastricht University. Levan is an Associate Professor of European University and East European University, and trainer in civil society projects on EU, its governance and foreign policy. Levan is an academic coordinator of the EU’s Jean Monnet module (620916-EPP-1-2020-1-GE-EPPJMO-MODULE), senior researcher in the Jean Monnet project (620893-EPP-1-2020-1-GE-EPPJMO-PROJECT), and has been an expert in 4 Jean Monnet projects and 1 Jean Monnet module on Europeanization, Georgia’s European integration, public awareness on EU & anti-western propaganda. Levan is a National Director of the EU-UNDP project “Consolidating Parliamentary Democracy in Georgia”. Levan is an author of the book ‘Political History of European Integration’ and actively publishes on the EU, its conflict management, governance and foreign policy in peer-reviewed academic journals and books. He is a recipient of research grants and fellowships from respected local and international organizations, including Hertie School, OSCE/ODIHR/CEU, European Union, John Smith Trust, Rustaveli National Science Foundation, Open Society Foundation. He was awarded by ‘Silver Shield’ for his special contribution to Georgia’s European integration process in 2018.
