Based on the feedback received throughout the public discussions conducted under the EU GS project, the project implementation team developed additional policy recommendations.
Competent stakeholders directed project researchers’ attention towards the problematic issues that were not identified during the fieldwork.
The additional recommendations outlined below, along with the recommendations given in the policy document, will be presented to the public gathered at the project concluding conference. Information graphs reflecting them will also be distributed.
Recommendation N1: Considering Gender Aspects in the Teaching and Learning process
Taking into account gender aspects in the teaching and learning process is, first of all, important in terms of developing a stereotype-free learning environment and raising awareness about gender equality. The process of teaching the subjects should not reveal a stereotypical attitude towards the roles of men and women. In addition to this, it is important to note that both the content and the visual material in the textbooks should be reviewed in terms of gender equity.
Recommendation N2: Develop Mechanisms to Facilitate Collaboration between Teachers
Having a strong culture of collaboration between teachers significantly contributes to their professional development, competence enhancement and career advancement. Correspondingly, activities promoting cooperation and collaborative work should be encouraged. In this way, it becomes possible to introduce professional development tools for teachers on a school basis.
Recommendation N3: Strengthening School-University Cooperation
Deepening bilateral cooperation between universities and general education establishments is an important foundation for attracting new highly competent employees to schools. It should be noted that universities play a significant role in the professional advancement of teachers, the improvement of existing methodological approaches and the development of school culture in general.
Recommendation N4: Developing a Differentiated Teaching Approach
The pursuit of differentiated policies in education aims to develop the quality of education and improve learning outcomes. Through this method, a teacher can support students to maximize their interests, opportunities and motivations. Differentiated teaching has a number of advantages, including improving overall classroom outcomes, which in turn affects the quality of general education.
Recommendation N5: Improving the Subject Plan and Subject Standards
The subject plan is based on the National Curriculum, although it can be enriched and developed based on teachers’ experience. It is important that teachers have motivation to improve the syllabus and the methods by which the planned topics will be studied more effectively. This, in turn, will greatly encourage the improvement of subject standards and eventually contribute to the amelioration of specific subject competencies.
