Within the framework of the Erasmus + Jean Monnet project – “Advancing European values and standards in Georgian schools” – a public discussion was held at the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement (EQE) of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
The meeting was attended by the heads and staff of various structural units of the Center, as well as the Deputy Directors. The EU GS project team provided the attendees with detailed information on the results of the field research completed under the project and invited them to discuss the challenges of teaching European values in Georgian public schools.
The representatives of the Center noted with satisfaction that a significant part of the recommendations presented in the policy paper, as well as the methodological manual developed based on them, are in full compliance with the new National Curriculum. Hence, according to the EQE team, the activities already envisaged by the EU GS project, especially the trainings, significantly contribute to the implementation of the ongoing general education reform.
Statistical information about the beneficiary schools involved in the project and the trained principals-teachers were found to be particularly valuable to the Center’s management. Upon completion of the meeting, they were provided with additional data about the schools involved in the project.
The event held at EQE was the third one in Tbilisi and at the same time the last in a series of public discussions of the project as a whole. In total, five public discussions took place in Tbilisi, Telavi and Kutaisi. Feedback from stakeholders will be processed and shared with the public in the form of an infographics at the concluding conference of the project.
